Swimbat Mixed Bag

Postby elhoward622 » Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:35 am

Hit up a nice, cool river to beat the 99 degree heat. I kept it Spartan only carrying my brand new, un-slimed Dobyns 795 and my swimbait box. Nine hours of chucking later I ended up with a 4-ish pounder, and some pint-size spots, and a couple of stripers to boot. All in all, it was a great day considering the heat and blue-bird skies, plusI got to break in my new Dobyns.

I go with the Columbia brand Blood & Guts pants & their long sleeve tops to beat the sun. They can be a little pricey, but there are other brands out there

Big bait equals big fish? It must have wore you out throwing that all day? Nice fish!

I know my arms get sore after a full day of swimbaits and 1oz football jigs.

Haha! I used to get really tired tossing them on flippin sticks, but now that I have a proper SB rod it is much better. A legit SB rod is so much more efficient and allows you to flip them out there without the wrist strain. I have gotten all into sun protection and cancer prevention, so I wear the Buff and a Columbia long sleeve SPF. I still wear shorts though and just lotion up!
