Banner day on Lake Chapman

Postby ZachYak » Thu Sep 24, 2009 12:47 pm

Hit the water today as soon as the park opened. My intent was to practice fishing some brush piles but I felt like the water was just too stained (maybe 1 foot of visibility) to work on a technique I wasn't confident in. Scared that this may be a tough day of fishing I decided to hit my sweet spot and sure enough first cast I hooked into and landed my personal best largemouth at 18 inches!

Sadly I didn't get a pic with it and the KBF identifiers. I had it out for too long trying to get a measurement for GKFA's CPR... I really need a Hawg Trough...

but anyways...
I managed to get another dink in the same area. Then I decided to give the crappie fishing a shot and ended up bringing 9 to the boat and in the process I caught my 100th kayak fish of the year!

The largest ran just at 11 inches.

No better way to spend the morning. Now I gotta shower up and head to English :P

Good Job! After English, did you have crappie for supper?

Nice job. I fondly remember those days a few years back. Fish in the morning, go to class, and then maybe fish afterwards. Enjoy it because once you start working there's no going back :(

Thanks guys!

Nate,
Dorm room life isn't very friendly to cooking :( There is a kitchen somewhere in my residence hall, so this spring when I can really limit out it may be worth it to give it a shot.

Congrats on a personal best. I did that once (personal best) with a 14lb striper caught when I SHOULD have been in "Plate Techtonics" (Geology Major)! One other time in high school, I brought a brown paper bag to my instructor when I walked in late to a biology class, she loved duck and in the bag were a brace of greenheads shot just hours before. She did not mark me as "tardy" that day. Geeezzzzz, what a way to live life.
