NorthEast Reservoir Has Fish!

Postby BigYaker » Sat Sep 26, 2009 12:07 am

Earlier in the week I mad my first trip to NorthEast Reservoir and got skunked. I knew the fishing wouldn't be great since the County treats the reservoir periodically with copper sulfate which limits phytoplankton production. So, today I grabbed my Spro frog Jr and my trusty Rat L Trap and headed back to the Reservoir determined to catch something.

I started off with the frog and had several explosions but couldn't set the hook - I know the bass hitting the frog were not huge, but I don't know why I couldn't land one. Has anyone ever bent the two hooks back to help increase hook sets? Anyway, I decided to switch to the Rat L Trap and I'm glad I did. Caught several largemouth (nothing huge) and I caught a crappie (see below).

At least I know there are fish in this damn reservoir!!

fish in the lake is good. :D

there was a thread not to long ago about fishing with frogs and in that thread some people talked about bending the hooks a little... i have done that in the past. it might have helped a little... maybe.

good looking crappie. thats a great target of opportunity to have in the lake. i love crappie as a back-up plan.

Way to go. I'll take the small ones over a skunk any day of the week!
