New guy from SoAZ

Postby goldenglory18 » Wed Mar 23, 2011 9:57 am

Hey everyone! My name is Kenny, I'm a 27 years young and looking to get into kayak fishing!

I'm literally starting from scratch (except from the fishing standpoint) and have come to your wonderful site for information, tips, and anything else 'yak & fish related.

After looking over the forum yesterday, and taking a trip to my local Sportsman's Warehouse, I think I found my first 'yak. Perception Sport Pescadore 12.0 in their tan color. The store has the non-angling version in-stock and listed at $560.

I'm also a bit of a car guy, so I love to tinker and modify. If all goes well, and I have the blessing of the experienced 'yakkers, it looks like I may have just found my new summer project!

Thanks again for the awesome site. Tight lines....

Welcome! I'm new to the KBF as well. Finally someone else from AZ. I'm in Tempe. Enjoy the sickness. I'm still in the process of outfitting my Vapor (SINK's Rule!!) and plan on getting out quite a bit. Have fun!

Thanks for the welcome wishes guys.

Unfortunately, I haven't bought the boat yet, but as soon as the Xterra gets back from the shop (new tranny and radiator....yay) I'm picking it up. Once the 'stang gets washed, I'll post some pics of my stable in the off topic. I actually haven't taken any new pictures since I got my new wheels and tires.

Anyway....since I'm basically buying a non-angling yak, where should I look for all the fun fishing and adventure gear? Immediately I'm looking at a few rod holders, a drag chain/trolley, compass, and more storage. Also, what are your recommendations on PFD's and paddles?

Thanks again!!!

Check with the fine folks at HOOK 1 for starters. Great folks, excellent service, good selection, help with rigging, competitive pricing. Other good ones are out there, but you can't go wrong with HOOK 1.
