Hello from Kansas

Hey all, I am a new fella here from Kansas, the state of crappy water access laws. I am planning on purchasing a kayak to fish from on both lakes and Ozark streams and was hoping to get a little guidance on my purchase. Cost is very important, as is quality. I was kind of looking at the Perception Sport Pescador 10', the Perception Tribe 9.5 and the Old Town Vapor 10XT Angler. I like the idea of a 10' boat as some creeks I can put it on at home for a mile or so require some carrying to get to the water and the shorter boat means lighter weight. I figured this website would help me learn what I can about bass fishing from a kayak. Thank you guys and I hope to contribute to this site as I can.

First off, welcome to a great site.

As for kayak, I would seriously suggest nothing shorter than 10'. You'll want the little extra tracking that it will provide over a 9'. And factoring in carrying lures and rods, you'll want the 10.

The Pescador would be a good fit.

Thank you guys. I am excited to get mobile in my fishing. I float the Ozark streams with some friends in their canoes, but don't want to have to coordinate trips with them and want to just be able to toss it up on the car and go. The Pescador was one that I was looking at seriously due to price, $450 at Academy Sports and Perception is a good brand with a good product.

I have two Tarpon 120's. It's the same hull as the Pescador 12. I'm real happy with them. I'm 6'2" and weigh 185 and the Yak seems to handle my weight fine.

I'll be busy and traveling till the 14th, after that if you would like to meet somewhere half way between us, I would let you paddle one of mine around.
Some Dicks in Florida have the Pescador 12 for $375. I don't about other parts of the country. Either way good luck on the search

Don't be afraid to look at a 12'er not much weight difference and it will track much better.
Do you fish lakes Clinton, Lone Star and Perry? It's a bit of a drive for you but Lake Wabaunsee has some nice fish in it too. I think you need a lake permit for that place.
