That would be a little hard to do. ;)
But I'm certainly not against hitching a ride and bank fishing... Ill even bring my own rod.

Back to the subject at hand:
If this stuff is exactly like Power Pro AND comes in orange, then that solves a problem I was having... I really realllllly like PP, but I really reallllly like using orange line, so I was going to order some yellow PP and try and dye it orange by soaking it in red dye... but I was afraid I was going to ruin quite a bit of it in the process trying to get it right. So problem solved. 8-)
Thanks for bring this to light leo.

Couldn't you just use a red sharpie to color the line? I know i use a black sharpie on the 4-6 feet of my yellow power pro and it does the job nicely.

Plasticpirogue wrote:Hate to break up the orgy, but to answer your orginal question I have used FINS and so has Jeff Little. Both of us got some in Feb of 2011 in Original Yellow and it behaves EXACTLY like the Original PP. If you ask me, it comes out of the same mill.
I would assume that the newer version would be just like SuperSlick.

You are welcome to join in.

Cool about the line, I thought it had to be the same stuff. Fins seems to have a wider selection of lines on their website compared to Power Pro....

Both FINS and Power Pro use Spectra fiber. They behave the same because they're the same fiber and similar braid angle. They aren't exactly the same, but they're so similar it's not even funny. The 8 strand braid process makes for a super smooth running line that is as close to silent in the guides as I've seen in a braid.

Some others use Dyneema, similar, but slightly different fiber.

FINS and PP have one thing in common and that is the Spectra fiber both use other than that they are different. what makes the FINS XS so subtle and smooth is that it is woven with 8 ends of spectra instead of 4 like other braids. Fins is made in Kentucky by BBS Technology, and Yes they due manufacture other brands braided line too, but their Premium braid is sold under FINS. Where is PP is manufactured by Innovative Textiles, located at Grand Junction, CO and is owned by Shimano American Corporation. I would be happy to answer any questions concerning FINS Braided line.

I don't think any of that was being questioned. I know that the original PP and original FINS was for all intents and purposes exactly the same; same fiber, same braid pattern, acted the same, and fished the same. The NEW stuff is an 8 fibre braid (it's called Super8Slick afterall) and it is really good stuff. I was not aware that FINS was marketing a comparative product as I don't have a local dealer, even with a BPS, Dicks, and Academy nearby.

Cool, now it is all explained. I can't wait to go try my FINS XS. One question since you offered :) What exactly is different on the Windtamer line compared to the regular braid?

It's stiffer so it won't tip wrap like the regular braids can.

What is the smallest pound test that FINS is available in? I have an ultralight rig that I use for crappies/panfish. It has a St. Croix rod and a Shimano spinning reel and the PP that's on there wind knots like nothing I've ever seen. None of my other rigs, almost ALL of which use PP with leaders, does that to me and I'm looking for a solution.
