Bass & BBQ wrote:So here is an annoying question.
Is the Carrot Stick at $75 a better buy/rod than the many rods available at $100?
I really dont need a rod but I also dont have a "nice" rod. Actually I have nice inshore rod I just got from Lt. Firedog but everything else is just ok. My next best rod is a $40 Lightning rod that I dont like as much as the "old" Lightning rods. So I am thinking a nice med-heavy, fast rod that would be my worm, jig (smaller), maybe toads/frogs in the open water over grass, or just my main go-to rod might be a decent idea. Just trying to figure out if it makes more sense to spend the $75 on the Carrot or look at BPS in the $100 range.
If I am totally derailing the thread, never mind.

For a life time warranty I don't think you can go wrong ($35 for shipping is all you pay)
I use to be a big supporter of Castaway and All Star rods but Carrot Stix in my opinion is a excellent "mid price range" rod.

I bought two of these to try them out, broke both of them setting the hook on fish. Called e21 about replacing them sure, send us 40 dollars pay shipping out and back and will send you a new one. No thanks took the money and bought a loomis. Ive broke all stars, st croix and others and didnt pay a thing. The guy that sells them here in WVA quit selling them because 90% came back broke.

Well I took the bait and bought a spinning and bait caster Carrot Stix. I have always wanted one even before I started fishing so at the price they are offering them for at Gander Mountain I decided what the heck and bought them.
Can't wait til Saturday so I can use them. I'm sure they will be better than anything I have since I started fishing and will be the best that I have used to this date so thats fine for me. Will see Saturday when I take them out for a test.

I don't have anything against Carrot Stix other than the color. I have fished one for a day and did enjoy the lightness in weight and feel of the rod. I do think that the race by manufacturers to make stuff lighter has resulted in an increase in busted rods. Don't have any numbers to support my opinion but having fished for over 50 years and having busted only one rod while fighting a fish, sure sounds like there's more rod failure today than ever before.

a buddy of mine broke his less than a month after buying it. Tried getting it warrantied and they offered him the 40 dollar return. Luckily he returned it through the retailer and bought a mojo bass. Hes had no problems with it and having tried both of his rods, Ill probably pick up a st croix mojo or another abu vendetta, seem like just as good of rods, without the durability issues.
