So what size and type of hook would you use for fat tubes? Would you think of rigging them weedless?

Owner Riggin' Hook was made for Rigging Tubes weedless. You can add a bullet weight for a traditional Texas rigged flipping bait.

for hooks its all Owner for me, everything I fish with and if a bait comes with hooks, I automatically swap them out for Owners.
For Texas rigged, or Florida rigged worms?
Owner TWISTLOCK with CPS (center pin spring) I like the center pin because it really grabs and hold the worm tight, and it doesnt fail as much pulling it thru grass or weeds.

Flukes?
Closest thing for me to a fluke bait would be a Skinny Dipper, and I throw them a couple ways.
unweighted: TWISTLOCK 3X w/ CPS, a little thicker and heavier wire then the hook above.
weighted: WEIGHTED BEAST with TWISTLOCK. If Im throwing them on edges and drop offs, I like the way the Beast handles itself, and the keel gives them a huge wobble.

I have several different Owners in my line up, I have just about all the varieties of bass hooks and it depends on what plastic Im throwing and into what situation dictates on my hook choice.

All of my treble swimbaits are instantly swapped out for ST-36's and ST-41's, an if I want a floater to sit a lil lower in the water I swap out to ST-41's, on some of the lighter floating swimbaits it brings the bait below the water surface, creating a larger profile for the bass to notice when coming up on it.

Theres a long line of Owners in my box, and while Im not saying its the best hook on the market, its been the best for me.

Here's a link for the ones I use;

http://www.captainhookswarehouse.com/index.cfm?page=detail&hookid=440&view=1

Play around with the sizes and look at what a box of 1000 count costs. I have 1000 count boxes of that hook in 2/0 through 5/0 and haven't worried about hooks in 5 years or so. If you have a style, size and brand you like, you can save a lot of money buying in bulk.

They are good VMC hooks that cost very little compared to buying them in 4, 10 or even 25 packs. That site also carries the Matzuo Sickle Octopus hooks that I love so much for nose hooking soft plastics and strap jigs.

I've been experimenting with a few different hooks the last couple weeks and I am really liking the EWG hooks for flukes and starting to like them for worms. It took me a few times to get used to the shape so the first few times I rigged a worm it was a little wonky.

I caught a bunch of fish today and only missed two on worms. One of those was because of a reel malfunction. So the hook up ratio is much better. I never really liked those regular offset hooks and the wide gaps seem to be more effective. I just need to get settled on a brand or shape I like most. I tried the horny toad hook today too but could get an action on the toad.

OOH that depends.. If I'm using as a flippin/pitchin bait with a bullet weight pegged to the hook, I'll use a 3/0 offset hook. I also use it as a spinnerbait trailer, and on a football jig.

I think my favorite way to fish it is a way Jeff Little showed me Use a Matzuo sickle/octopus hook and hook it through the 2nd or third segment back from the point. Sometimes I use a nail weight to make it fall more flat, I'll start the point about 1/8" from where I hook it and insert it in.

I was just watching a video with Scott Martin talking about jigging with creature baits. He mentioned that you should use straight shank hooks for jigging. Is this common knowledge? I hadnt heard that before and he didnt get into why. The video was about adding a jig skirt above the creature.

Pretty much what the others are saying but I like the VMC hooks. Very strong and priced right.

Sharp ones!! No really, I don't subscribe to the latest and greatest of any
product. At least I try not to. If the hook fits the size I need for the application used, and as long as it's sharp, I'm good to go. My buddy bought those Trocar
big dollar hooks and, while VERY sharp, the inherent design of the trocar cuts
the worms into pieces and the worms don't last as long.

I typically choose the hook based on the thickness of the bait. For worms and "thinner" baits, I typically choose a offset shank work hook. For "thicker" baits I like the EWG's.
