Regarding VA and MD Tributaries above the Route 301 bridge (I think that Mattawoman, Leesylvania, Occoquan all fall in that category).

If I am reading this correctly (see link below) it would appear a VA Fresh Water License would cover the Mattawoman all the way up to the 225 bridge (which looks like it would cover 99% of the Mattawoman)

OK, May 5th it is. Let's talk locations. I know Mattawoman has plenty of fish (and plenty of pressure). Lot's of places are going to be like that. I guess what I would like to find for us is an area that at low tide is a place that the bass boats can't or wont go. I know they are out there. Anyone know of any?

No.

Hey Hookup, are you sure?

It looks like from this that a Virginia Fresh Water License would cover pretty much all of the Mattawoman (as an example):

the "demarkation" line on the Mattawoman is the bridge on 225 up at the headwaters, so if I am reading this right everything I have inside the red line should be covered?

Jeff interested for sure and I have been fishing Occouquan reservoir at Fountainhead park heavily over the last 2 months and know the water well. You want to avoid dates where the Fountainhead Bass club does their one day tourneys. It would be a great place to do a kayak raid because only John Boats with 10hp or less can fish there. Mattawoman can be a nightmare on the weekends with the high speed bass boats blowing by you at full speed. Call me if you want to talk more about this location it is a great place I'll be out there this weekend and next Wed and or Thursday. Check out the totals they put up in this bass club 1 day events top 6 fish, pretty impressive.
