5/4 with KBF'r Gkreps, 5/5 Jamie saved the day

Hit the river Friday finally with Greg, we have been trying to get together and do a float for awhile now, well it finally happened. River was still running alil stained from some previous rains. It was a beautiful day out, temp near 80, partly cloudy and it was so nice to finally get to get out in just shorts and shirt leaving warmer clothes/waders behind. After you got over that initial chill of the water it was awesome.

I stayed toward the bank that had the heavier stained water throwing spinnerbaits in tight, along with tubes, both produced. It wasnt a lights out day by any stretch but did decent. Greg worked a jig/trailer combo for his PB smallie, a nice healthy 18.5" that had him smiling.

Greg it was my pleasure to finally get together and wet a line with you and was real happy to see you get your PB!! Have to do it again soon!

Pic of one of my smallies, hope that Greg shows off his nice smallie

The following day did a different stretch with Jamie, fish were considerably less co-operative, conditions looked to be great, if you would have asked us how we thought before we launched I would have been more the confident in a really good day but smallies had different idea.

Fished long and hard, variety of baits and water depth and currents, having I think 6 dinks and a couple of rockbass between us, a leader touch release of a toothy critter that Jamie had come off as we were trying to paddle closer to each other. Toward the very end of the day, Jamie was running a crankbait that got the attention of 2 decent smallies. A 17.25 and a 17.5 pretty much back to back. Think my biggest was a tad over 14 so she definately showed me up!!!

Then there was the ride home through an intense bug hatch, it was like running threw a hail storm, had to stop at a gas station to clean my windows at one point because wipers and windshield washer wasnt getting the job done.

the hatch happening on the water too at the end of the day, tied on some different topwaters and still got nothing

Glad to see that you're still able to get that smallie fix! Looks like some decent fish were caught, that's better than my last trip for smallies. Congrats guys!

Awesome colors on that smallie! Is that red on his side, or is it just me?

Hard to complain with two fish like that! My GF has been itching to out fish on a trip-- i know it'll happen sooner or later and I'm dreading the day, haha!

What river did you guys float?

   She's no joke with that pink St. Croix in hand!

Hey, all kidding aside....looks like an awesome time out on the water. As usual you found some good smallies even when they were a little tight-lipped 8-)

The pic of your grill is hilarious! Straight to the car wash....

It's gonna happen so get ready and enjoy the ribbing she gives you on the ride home. We were on the upper stretch of the Juniata river.
