I've been there a few times. You'll have better luck next time if you tighten the side straps. When we teach the kayak class, we teach them to check the pfd adjustment by lifting on the shoulder straps and if the pfd moves, it will ride up in the water, sorta like the picture. ;)

I hate it when that happens....
Last time I went in unexpectedly, it was february and the water was so cold it took my breath away, pfd saved my bacon... (I'm kinda porky.)
Miss T and the kids call me Fatboy...

Thanks for sharing the picture, reminds us all that we need to check our gear, and that we need to keep the pfd adjusted, and secured when we are on the water. :)

When he went in it was slow motion. I was close and watched for him. All his gear popped to the top, but not him. A moment of oh crap and he popped to the surface. Once we both realized he was OK, we had a good laugh about it. It is a nice reminder to have everything adjusted, and in good condition. He saved a Plano full of $$$ lures which was why he popped up after all his gear. The anchor line could have caused him problems, but I was able to untangle him. Like a good "wingman" I stayed with him till he got squared away and back in the kayak. Another reason to maybe fish with someone if you can.

Yup, glad he recovered his gear and was safe and sound. Now he needs to put a kbf fish decal upside down on the bow... and wear it proudly. Welcome to the turtle club. :) I have TWO on mine.....

Sorta the unofficial symbol of the turtle club til Chads official turtle decals come out in the future... see the creation of this deal here:
