Kayak arrived yesterday. I've never been kayak fishing. Thought about just getting to know the kayak a little bit before I try fishing out of it but whats the point. If I flip it, I flip it. My problem is, I cant take my Kayak out in the early morning and see fish poppin' and NOT have a line in. I'm also fishing a small lake I've never fished before. Lookin' for last minute advice. I'm probably already starting off on the wrong foot

That's ok, I'm tired of reading about it every night. I'm gonna pay attention to wind and temperature will be ok. It's a small lake, you can see the whole shore line around you from anywhere on it. Any thoughts on this? Or is it just time for me to shut up and get on the water?

Sounds like it is time to get on the water.
I fished the first time I put my kayak into the water. If you were starting out on a river it would probably serve you to get used to how the kayak handles but on flat water I suspect you will be just fine.
Congratulations! Put some slime on that yak.

Start shallow, so if you flip it nothing lost. Try all you moves then, even casting. See how far you can go before flipping.

What everyone else said...and set up a video camera so we can all share in your flipping (if you do end up doing that).
I went out on my first day with my fishing stuff and did fine. You will inherently be careful because it is something new. Where you run into trouble is after your first few trips out and you feel confident and you try new stuff.
Keep it shallow and tie stuff down if you are worried about losing gear.

I fished the first time out too and it was fine. It's like being around wild animals. No quick movements. Keep your head in the center of the kayak and dont try to fish too far to the side. Keep it in front until you get comfortable. And when you hook the first one, you will laugh out loud.

Definately keep it minimal until you're used to being in the kayak. Take it easy, especially when turning and reaching back. Get to know the limits

Try to hook up with someone with experience to go out with you.

Have fun, be safe, don't overdue it, take plenty of water and snacks, dry bag of extra clothes and let someone know where you are going and how long you plan on being there.
