Mid-Atlantic Kayak Bass Series?

Postby CB Kayak 02 » Thu May 17, 2012 10:04 am

Is there interest for something like this in our region? Like what they have in Texas, Georgia, and other areas with the IFA?

I'd definitely be interested in participating in events of this nature. I really wanted to attend the Yakattack tourney this weekend, would have been my first yak tourney, but I have family commitments that take priority.

I'm gonna try to put together a proposal of sorts and see what I can come up with.

What would be some good locations to hold the events? If we had 5 events where do you think they should be?

Tidal Potomac (MD side + VA side), susky river, VA Lake, Northern Potomac, DE?

Other suggestions?

PS: I didn't mean for this to end up in resources, sorry for that mistake.

I think that you're on the right track with those locations. Here are a few more:

Beaverdam Creek Reservoir (VA) - I know that it can be a tough place to fish, but it would definitely make things interesting.

Occoquan Reservoir (VA) could be a potential stop

Sleepy Creek Lake (WV) is another possibility

Definitely digging the suggested events on the Susky, Upper Potomac, and Tidal Potomac. IMO those are three quality locations w/ plenty of space and opportunity for events of this nature. I'm game for other locations as well, the ones above were just a couple places that came to mind.

Never fished there, but that's why it's good to have suggestions from everyone in the region.

Bump this to see if there is any more interest. There are 28 people signed up for the mid atlantic regional challenges. I think we would have some more MD guys that would fish a live tourny series that just don't do the online stuff.

I would also recommend other places like Smith Mountain Lake, Lake Anna, Sandy River Reservoir, etc just to have alternatives.

When looking into these areas, pay close attention to the facilities available - not just port-a-johns but also parking spaces and launch areas.

yeah most likely i think saturdays would be best for the majority. But right now Just trying to feel the interest level and get ideas. Maybe it is something we can get going for next year or in the fall.
