JUST in time

Postby Laxbass » Mon Jun 11, 2012 9:43 pm

WEll a couple of days ago a sick thought to most of you went threw my head and it was to quit fishing and sell all my rods on craighslist because i have only went fishing 2 times in 2 years do to lack of intrest . So I was going to go threw with it and post them on Friday but forgot. So on Saturday my favorite event came up the ARC Demo day so I tried out kayaks all day and when we where getting ready to get in the car my dad told me that Austin Hoover (Knot Rights son) was going to stay the week with us for the weekend and that when it all changed. That night we went camping in the middle of no where for a night me and Austin talked for 3 hours about fishing and I got back in to the mind set of wanting to fish so that morning i woke up at 5:45 to go fishing and that's when it all clicked all thoses good times on the water with my dad fishing the little farm pond, all those time I missed school to go fishing with the craziest man on earth James (LONE STAR) I almost threw it away. That morning I caught a 6LB bass on a zoom worm and I got that feeling again. I had the best that Saturday morning and it didn't stop there. We drove home that day and soon as we got home the first thing Austin asked was.... want to go fishing so at 7 O'Clock at night we rode are bikes to a pond across from the street and caught sun fish till 10.

That next day me and Austin fished from 7 to 12 and then from 2 to 7 we hit 3 different ponds in one day and had the most fun ever. I found my fishing friend, what I forgot about was I had an exam on Monday. Austin stayed the night I went to school and took my exam ran home(40 min run) from school. I opened the door and yelled "AUSTIN LETS GO FISHING" he was asleep i forgot he was on Texas time. We fishing all day untill we where kicked out by the homeowners president and was told she would call the cops for trust passing at a public lake :o . So I would like to thank MR.Hoover form letting Austin come because of him i probely would not be making this post. P.S Austin left his costa de mar in my room

That's great. I'm glad you had a great time with a good friend. All it takes is that one day to get the spark back. I've thought about contacting people I used to fish with when I was younger and just saying "hey lets go fishing", but life gets in the way and I no longer live near any of them. I miss those days.

Not in my family - in fact, my son gets a mopey look on his fish every time I go out for a HOW event and he is unable to attend. I'm hoping to get him out there with me this Saturday.

Great post Laxbass!

You reminded me of my two best fishing buddies from Little League baseball days. Still best friends and still fishing together 45 years later after loosing contact for 30 years.

Got them to come out to Florida and fish out of kayaks for the first time a couple of years ago.
