Vacation trip

Postby dinosaur » Sun Jun 17, 2012 2:13 am

Wasn't sure where to put this, so "Off Topic" seemed right. Just got back from a trip to the Outer Banks, NC. Spent a week there. First, I couldn't believe the number of kayaks I saw in the back of pick up trucks / on top of cars. Don't see that many in the midwest. Second, I have a new respect for you guys that fish on the ocean. Didn't get the chance to get out on a kayak. However, I was able to see quite a few folks out there fishing. I have got to try that one day! That has got to be fun! So different than the lake fishing that I do. My hat is off to you folks that have access to the ocean.
Heck, tinkering with this fishing stuff
is half the fun of using it!!

We'll I hope your trip was good. As for fishing in the ocean from a kayak, once you do it freshwater fishing will be like aaaawwww ok, but when you know your getting ready to take a trip to the salt your heart starts pounding and you start dreaming of your trip. I have found nothing like it kayak fishing.

I fished the ocean once and have dreamed about it every since. I had a cobia come off at the kayak and have replayed that fight more times than I'd like to admit. It is fun.

I have my first saltwater kayak fishing trip in 2 weeks, I'm already trying to imagine the rush.

Dreaming of your next trip out isnt just for the salt. I have been dreaming of my next trip for the last couple of weeks. Even though I have went out a few times since.

Regarding fishing in NC I was at Topsail Island, NC. the last week in May and I agree there are alot of Kayaks getting water time.

We are lucky enough to have friends that LIVE in the Tidewater area: VA Beach, Hampton, Norfolk. We have been lucky enough to fish the salt a number of times and it's indeed a rush, with Redfish, Bluefish, onefish, twofish.... sometimes 30 in three hours fishing the light line at the bridge tunnel at night.... but... I still like fishing for BASS!
