Where and when do you want to fish for them?

Where0- I'm thinking the gravel pits. I'm researching the reports this past week that I can find to pinpoint the best spot.

When- not sure. SimonSays is getting his new Hobie on Tues. I think, so we may have to test it out. Don't know if I feel like Sandy this time around, so I might persuade him to grab the boat, and come back to Richmond for some Strippers, [I mean stripers] ;)

I'm thinking Bucktail Jigs, Topwaters, Some Tube Jigs, etc. Trying to see what others have had success with. I'm new to Stripers and my Redfish and Speck Tactics are totally different than Striper Fishing.

I was looking at the Spro Bucktail Jigs:

I'm 100% new to catching them during the spring, however during the winter I'd kill them on red jig heads with 4in single tail grubs. Red/white topwater popper and a treblehook lure that I can't remember the name of. Mirrolure I think?

Not sure if you are fishing fresh or salt water.

Bucktail jigs are great, I really like the spro jigs like you pictured in a white color, catch a lot of black bass with them also. Other lures like a redfin and zara spook are good for me. During the winter I had a good bit of luck vertical jigging flex-it spoons.

In the Salt my favorite are Soft plastics, Fin-s, Sluggos and Hogys 7",9". The colors i use are Black, white and Herring. Adjust the jig head wt to match current conditions so you can get it down.

In freshwater on the Northwest River, I've had good luck with the Smithwick Rattlin' Rogue, suspending model, in either silver or gold with a black back. When you pause the retrieve and let it suspend, they cream it!

I know nothing about these fish...(so why am I posting :) ) but I have caught one and lost another using a 5 inch shad swimbait. This was fishing some very fast water with lots of boulders and snags.
