Who's at the switch?
Chad Hoover, Kayak Bass FishingChad Hoover Hendersonville, TN KBF Founder & President Chad “Knot Right” Hoover grew up hunting, fishing and exploring the backwoods and backwaters of rural Louisiana and Georgia. After finishing high school, he joined the Navy and set out in search of adventure. In September 2012, Chad retired after over 20 years of active duty service. Chad has traveled extensively and been blessed with the opportunity to hunt and fish in many places around the globe. His passion for hunting has never faded, but as a lifelong fisherman he found many more opportunities to fish while relocataing frequently throughout his career. That passion took a unique turn when he discovered roto-molded kayaks while stationed in Corpus Christi, TX. He grew up primarily fishing for catfish, crappie and bass but quickly took to the flats for redfish, trout and flounder after experiencing and the famed Upper Laguna Madre had to offer. Hoover competed in organized kayak fishing tournaments throughout most of the Gulf Coast and the Eastern Seaboard. Through these events he developed numerous friendships and relationships with many fellow kayak anglers and manufacturer representatives. Through this, Chad discovered that his true passion was product development and improvement. He has been fortunate to be involved with many of the top companies in the paddlesports, hunting and fishing industries. Hoover conducts many clinics, seminars and promotional events for kayak fishing each year. He travels extensively promoting kayak fishing at demo days, paddling events and trade shows. He authored his first book, Kayak Bass Fishing, to share these experiences and insights for using stealthy paddle craft to hunt for big bass and most inshore saltwater species. He founded the popular website KayakBassFishing.com and is an owner, VP and Marketing Director of the kayak fishing pro shop HOOK 1 in Hendersonville, Tennessee. In 2012, Chad took his experience and entertaining antics to television as the host of Knot Right Kayak Fishing on NBC Sports and Kayak Bassin TV on the World Fishing Network. His unique sense of humor, energetic approach and extensive knowledge have made these programs both entertaining and informative. Other programs and ventures are on the horizon, so kayak anglers can expect to witness more of Hoover’s unique sense of humor, fishing skills, and paddlecraft in years to come.
