KBF’s Big Bass Brawl is a side pot open to KBF Lifetime Members and 2019 KBF Competitor Members competing in KBF TRAIL Series Tournaments, KBF TRAIL Series Regional Finals, KBF Championships and some other KBF Member-only events. Participation is optional. Entry fees and payouts are detailed in each KBF Event Rules Addendum, but generally are as follow:
TRAIL Series Tournaments — Entry fee is $25. $50 prizes are paid out for the “big bass” (actually, the highest-scoring photo) submitted in each hour of competition (doubled for the “Golden Hour,” the first of each morning), with a Daily Big Bass prize of $500 for the Brawl competitor who submitted the highest-scoring photo of the day.
KBF National Championship — For 2019, the National Championship Big Bass Brawl is rolled together with KBF BONUS BUCKS – KBFNC (KBF’s contingency awards program). A single $100 Entry Fee makes competitors eligible for Big Bass prizes and BONUS BUCKS.
Multi-day Events — As with the KBFNC, events that run two or three days usually pay out hourly “big bass” prizes, daily “big bass” prizes, and event “big bass” prizes. The specific prize structure will be detailed in the KBF Event Rules Addendum.
Register — To qualify for prizes, competitors must register and pay Entry Fee through the KBF Online Store at any time until start of competition. [Register Now]
How to win — Rank is determined by the single highest-scoring photo of each hour submitted by a Brawl participant. Higher-scored photos submitted by competitors not participating in the Big Bass Brawl are skipped. If no photos were submitted by a Big Bass Brawl participant during an hour, the hourly prize is added to the next hour’s prize. Ties are broken based on upload time, with the tie breaking in favor of the earliest submission during the hour.
Prize Distributions — Each Competitor awarded cash prizes or bonuses in 2019 KBF Competition is required to provide KBF with a completed, signed, and dated IRS FORM W-9, even if no information has changed since a form was submitted in previous years.
For KBF Big Bass Brawls, W-9 forms may be provided at event registration, or Tournament Directors may distribute the blank forms to cash winners after the awards ceremony. The completed, signed and dated forms are retained by KBF, which uses information from them to prepare IRS 1099 forms. One copy of each Form 1099 is sent to the IRS and another is provided to Competitor in January for income tax return preparation.
After KBF has received the Form W-9, it will distribute KBF Big Bass Brawl cash prizes via PayPal Funds Transfer to the email address provided by Competitor during event registration.
Any competitor who fails to fill out and turn in an IRS Form W-9 at the event may open a blank form on a web browser [link: IRS FORM W-9], fill it out, sign and date it. The completed form may be mailed to:
