Matthew Scotch

Bio —  I’ve been addicted to fishing ever since I can remember. My dad and grandfathers took me hunting and fishing at an early age and from that time on it’s been all I really want to do with my life. Every free weekend when I was a younger you could find me on or near the water with a fishing pole in my hand.

When I turned 18 I went to culinary school in Austin TX. I worked as a chef for nearly 10 years in private country clubs, fine dining restaurants, and catering companies before fishing found its way back in to my life in my late 20’s. A chance meeting with a neighbor one day set course for a wild chain of events that eventually led to me leaving the food service industry and starting a career as a kayak fishing guide.

I’ve been kayak fishing for 6 years now, competed in the biggest kayak competitions, won tournaments, been on TV, and gained recognition as one of the top kayak anglers in the sport. I’m humbled to be where I’m t today and look forward to what lies around the corner

He grew up fishing with his dad for bass, bluegill and catfish in the rivers and swamps of North West Florida. Currently, he fishes the waters from Navarre Beach to Perdido Key and is the owner/operator of Sails and Tails Kayak Charters. He enjoys the adventure, challenge and simplicity of kayak fishing. Matthew is a seasoned tournament angler and is the current Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) National Angler of the Year. While his focus in the past has been mainly saltwater tournaments; Now, his focus is on the KBF National Championship.

“I love the sport and take great pleasure in sharing my passion and knowledge with other kayak anglers. I enjoy tournament fishing and landing trophy fish, but would have to say my greatest accomplishments are consistently helping others catch the fish of their dreams. There really is nothing like the feeling of someone telling you “this is the best day ever!”

Ron Champion

Bio — Ron Champion is a seasoned tournament angler who grew up fishing creeks, ponds and reservoirs in middle Tennessee, but now he and his family live near the coastal waters of southeast Georgia. He started fishing when he was about 5 years old with his dad. Coming over from the Bass Boat side of fishing it didn’t take long for Ron to make a impact in the kayak world. Although bass fishing is his passion, his most memorable trips are catching crappie, bluegill and catfish with his kids. Ron is a family man and has a 12-year-old son, Branton, and a 7-year- old daughter. Makayla. He has been with his wife, Chrissy, since 2005. Both kids love to fish, and he takes them every chance he gets. Finishing in the top ten in over half of the 200+ kayak tournaments in which he’s competed, veteran tournament anglers recognize that when Ron shows up to a event he is there for one thing— to Win. Ron is devout Christian and not afraid to share his faith, so when you get a chance to meet him, please say, “Hello.”

Bio — Although I grew up in Central Florida fishing grassy, natural lakes from an old, leaky john boat, I now call Atlanta home. More often than not, I’m fishing the rocky shoals of the Flint or Ocmulgee rivers. I started kayak fishing heavily in 2013, and in April 2014, I co-founded YakAddicts LLC, which is primarily a social media medium that covers and promotes kayak fishing and the community therein. I began fishing competitively in January, 2015. I currently fish Kayak Bass Fishing events and the Peach State Kayak Anglers trail. Fishing, to me, is more a craft than a hobby, and I enjoy the work that goes into advancing my knowledge and skill set.
