100 Challenge Championship

This is an invitational tournament for 100 of the best kayak bass anglers in the US and Canada. The KBF Event Rules Addendum on this page and the KBF Competition Rules Standards are in effect for this event. KBF uses TourneyX and Facebook for informational purposes only; to communicate instructions and additional details. If discrepancies or inconsistencies exist between this Calendar Event Page and those other two references, the information on this page takes precedence.

Event Rules Addendum

  3. Venue Host: Toledo Bend Lake Country and Sabine Parish Tourist & Recreation Commission
  4. Competitor Eligibility: This tournament is by invitation only to 100 KBF Members in the US and Canada (2017 KBF Annual Membership or KBF Lifetime Membership) based on state/province and national KBF AOY ranking.
    • From each U.S. State and Canadian Province that fielded competitors in KBF Challenges, the KBF Member with the most AOY Points earned in KBF Challenges only will be invited to compete in this even.
    • Should he decline, the invitation will pass down in rank until one competitor from each state or province is named. The remainder of the 100 positions will be invited based on 2017 KBF AOY ranking, skipping those who have already accepted or declined.
    • NO ENTRY FEE for this event.
    • 100 Challenge competitors may also compete in the End on the Bend KBF OPEN that will be running on Toledo Bend during the same hours and days.
  5. Competition Rules: KBF Rules are in two parts:
    • By registering, each competitor acknowledges he has read and agrees to abide by (a.) the KBF Competition Rules Standards (including the Release and Indemnification Agreement and Copyright and Use of Images Agreement) and
    • (b.) the specific rules outlined in the KBF Competition Rules Addendum on this page;
    • NOTE: KBF Competition Rules Standards were revised on August 9, 2017, so make sure to familiarize yourself with them.
  6. Event Schedule (All times are Central Daylight Time. Competition start times were established as approximately one hour before sunrise,)
    • Thursday 11/2
      • 4:00 p.m.
      : Pre-fishing on Eligible Waters ends
      • 3:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.: Check-in and On-site Registrations at Tournament HQ (Cypress Bend Tournament Pavilion)
      • 7:00 p.m.: Mandatory Captains Meeting at Tournament HQ
    • Friday 11/3
      • 5:30 a.m.
      : Make-up Captains Meeting at Tournament HQ (parking lot in front of  Cypress Bend Tournament Pavilion)
      • 6:30 a.m.: Competition Start Time
      • 3:00 p.m.: Competition End Time and Photo Submission Deadline; all competitors must be in or through the judges line at tournament HQ.
      • 4:00 p.m.: mandatory Captains Meeting at Tournament HQ
    • Saturday 11/4
      • 6:30 a.m.:
       Competition Start Time
      • 3:00 p.m.: Competition End Time and Photo Submission Deadline; all competitors must be in or through the judges line at tournament HQ.
      • 4:00 p.m. (or soon thereafter): Awards Ceremony begins as soon as judging ends.
  7. Format: Ranking in this two-day Catch-Photo-Release (“CPR”) tournament will be determined by the cumulative score, based on length, of up to ten black bass (any species) caught and submitted by each Competitor in accordance with regulations and competition rules. No more than five bass from Friday and five from Saturday will be counted, with no culling on Saturday of Friday’s catch.
  8. Tournament HQ: Tournament Pavilion, Cypress Bend State Park, by the boat ramp.
  9. Eligible Water & Location: For the 100 Challenge Championship,Toledo Bend Reservoir eligible waters are all of Toledo Bend Reservoir, plus any of its backwaters, sloughs, tributaries and water contiguous to it. This includes all of Toledo Bend plus the Sabine River channel and sloughs from the US-84 Highway bridge at Logansport to the Toledo Bend Dam. Basically, if you can paddle to it from that lake (or at least float your kayak to it), it’s in-bounds.Note: a resident fishing license from either Louisiana or Texas will suffice to fish all of Toledo Bend Reservoir from a boat. If you wade fish or fish from shore, you must have a license from the state in which you’re standing. Non-residents must have a license for the waters in which they fish.)
  10. Entry Fee and Procedures
    • Entry fee has been covered by a portion of KBF Challenge Entry Fees collected throughout the season.
    • Registration will take place after invitations have been distributed.
  11. Identifier Form & Code — Every photo must include a legible KBF Identifier Form, which will be distributed at the Captains Meeting along with instructions for entering an Event ID Code.
  12. Manual Submission of Digital Photos: The preferred channel for submitting digital photos is upload from the angler’s smart phone directly to to TourneyX. If a Competitor cannot or will not upload photos to Tourney X, Tournament Staff will do so at Tournament HQ each day. Anglers who need to have their digital photos upload to TourneyX by Tournament Staff must  be prepared to surrender their camera’s memory card or cell phone and USB cable. No Competitor who arrives in line after 3:00 p.m. will be allowed to turn in his memory card or cable to Tournament Staff for on-site uploads.
  13. Prizes
    • First place guaranteed $10,000 payout
    • 10% of Field Payout. The actual number of additional places and payout amounts will vary with the number of registered competitors and amount in the Cash Prize Purse, which is made up of approximately $2 from every Challenge registration from March through October 2017
    • Qualifying Slots to the 2018 KBF National Championship: None
    • 2017 KBF Angler of the Year Points: None
    • Sponsors’ prizes and awards: TBD
  14. Awarding of Prizes
    • Competitors must be present to receive awards.
    • Cash prizes and KBF BONUS BUCKS will be announced at the Saturday Awards Ceremony at Tournament HQ. Prize Distributions are made via PayPal Funds Transfer after winners have provided KBF with IRS W-9 form. (Winner may request that a company check mailed to the address on his IRS W-9 form and are responsible for payment of all state and federal income taxes.
    • Tournament results will be visible online and will be posted on this Website and on Facebook.
