FishOPS: What is It?
FishOPS is competitive kayak fishing for a cause. The FishOPS cause is to raise awareness of veterans, first responders and public servant organizations. To that end, FishOPS raises money through kayak tournament fishing. It does so through affordable entry fees that provide anglers with an opportunity to fish and feel good about both their competition and their catch.
How does it work?
- Participating anglers register for FishOPS on Fishing Chaos
- You can sign up at any time during competition
- Each month KBF and FishOPS designate a Veteran’s charity event to donate a portion of the proceeds (target is 25% minimum) from each entry to support charities that support veteran’s programs
- Anglers submit fish, which are then judged (fish are released live according to Catch-Photo-Release format)
- Anglers may submit to one of two categories: “Just for Fun” (any watercraft) and “Any 22” (Competitive/Kayak).
- Participating anglers are eligible for prize drawings and more!
In addition, KBF has partnered with manufacturers to create FishOPS co-branded merchandise to raise operating funding and to directly support our partner organizations.
Who are the beneficiary organizations?
The first three FishOPS 2022 events benefitted the Behind the Lines. KBF selects an organization for each month. KBF has been 100% transparent on the cost and contributions of facilitating each event along with the donation amount. We also strongly encourage folks to contribute directly to the organization if they would like 100% of their contribution to go to that organization’s mission.
What do competitors receive?
All competitors will receive a T-shirt and decal and those that complete the prescribed Challenge will receive a FishOPS Challenge Coin. Once an event is over, those that receive their challenge coins will use it to enter a giveaway for premium prize giveaways from our supporting sponsors.

Chad travelled to 22 States in 2022 and caught 22 fish in each state to raise awareness of veteran’s suicide and raise funds for organizations that help provide support that enhances veteran’s quality of life while also helping prevent suicide in the veteran’s community.
HISTORY
