FLW and KBF Bring Kayak Bass Fishing Cup Competition to Arkansas 

Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, and Kayak Bass Fishing, LLC, (KBF) the nation’s foremost organization supporting kayak bass anglers, has announced the first FLW-KBF Cup kayak competition on Fri/Sat August 9-10, 2019, on a lake to be announced in conjunction with the Aug 9-11 FLW Cup on Lake Hamilton.. Winners  of the kayak fishing competition will be recognized on the FLW Tour stage and featured in FLW’s media outlets.

The first joint event, the Dee Zee FLW/KBF Open presented by YakAttack at Nickajack Lake, was hosted by Fish Dayton and Fish Lake Chickamauga on May 4-5, 2019. 102 anglers in that event for the FLW/KBF Cup in Hot Springs, Arkansas, with the top 20 receiving free entry. All other qualifiers pay a $500 entry fee.

KBF was formed in 2009 to offer kayak anglers the opportunity to compete for hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and prizes at premier fisheries around the country. Currently in its seventh season for live events, KBF offers more than 25 professional-level bass-fishing tournaments to kayak anglers. Where will this event take place?

The lake will be determined and announced in social media, on TourneyX and on this web page in the coming days. It will not be Lake Hamilton (site of the concurrent FLW Cup tournament) but another lake in the vicinity of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Who can register and compete in the FLW/KBF Cup?

This is an invitation-only event, limited to 2019 FLW Competitor Members (included in KBF Pro Tour Registration) 18 years of age and older who qualified in any of these four ways:

  1. Completed in the Dee Zee FLW-KBF Open at Nickajack Lake presented by YakAttack (102 qualified)
  2. Finished in the top 100 at the 2019 KBF National Championship in Shreveport/Bossier, Louisiana
  3. Rank in the top 50 in KBF Pro Tour by KBF AOY Points as of July 31, 2019
  4. Finished in the top 10 at any 2019 KBF TRAIL Series Tournament (through July 31, 2019)

What does it cost to become eligible to compete?

The Dee Zee FLW/KBF Cup Presented by YakAttack Entry Fee is $500.

FLW Competitor Membership is $75 per year. [Join FLW]

Why register for the KBF Pro Tour, since it's more expensive?


KBF Pro Tour Registration makes one eligible to sign up and compete in all 2019 KBF Pro Tour Tournaments (not counting the FLW/KBF Open and Cup), and the KBF Pro Tour Championship. More opportunities to win, to create a reputation, build a resume, and attract sponsors.

If all you want to do is compete in the FLW/KBF Cup, then  FLW Competitor Membership at $75 is a better value for you.

What does an FLW Member pay for KBF Pro Tour Registration?

FLW Competitor Members save $125 on KBF Pro Tour Registration. The registration fee is usually $250 but is half-price ($125) for FLW Members. If you are already a 2019 FLW Competitor Member, email KBF Member Care Manager Lynette Brentlinger, include a screen shot of your FLW Competitor Membership receipt or other membership documentation, and request a discount code. 

Note that KBF Competitor or Lifetime Membership is a prerequisite for KBF Pro Tour Registration. The annual dues for KBF Competitor Membership are $25 (Student), $45 (Military/Vet), or $50 (full price).

What will this event pay out?

10% of the field cashes checks. The payout will be 100% of Entry Fee proceeds; that is, entry fees less TorneyX and PayPal fees. in addition, the prize fund includes a 25% carry-over from FLW-KBF Open entry fees.
