Are you ready?

The Kayak Bass Fishing Angler of the Year race will begin with the first event of the Realtree Fishing KBF TRAIL Series presented by Dee Zee Truck Accessories in Kissimmee, Florida on January 30-31st, 2021.

Let’s ask twice, because Rus Snyders won it twice.

Once more, and louder – are you ready?

The coveted AOY title was won in 2020 by Rus Snyders, who also won the title in 2019. Snyder described his winning year as follows: “I fished every event possible and was determined to put in the work during practice in order to produce consistent results. Having some good fortune and great friends to travel with plays a big part as well!”

Determination, consistency and luck – anglers need them all, plus a good travel schedule. Here’s how it works:

  • The race for the AOY title will run over 10 TRAIL events that span 21 days of tournament fishing on America’s best bass fisheries, from Connecticut to California.
  • Additionally, the KBF Angler of the Year will be the angler who places highest in the final AOY points standings, a race that often comes down to the final competition: the KBF TRAIL Series Championship!
  • The 2021 KBF Angler of the year will be determined by an angler’s combined 3 best KBF TRAIL scores and their KBF TRAIL Series Championship score.
  • 600 points are awarded for 1st place per KBF TRAIL event, followed by 6 point decrements.
  • 900 points are awarded for 1st place in the KBF TRAIL Series Championship, followed by 9 point decrements.

In the end, all the roads will lead to Shreveport, LA, where the AOY race will conclude at the KBF TRAIL Series Championship on October 13th – 14th, 2021. When it’s over, a new Kayak Bass Fishing Angler of the Year will be crowned!
